Meet Our People: Brice Morgan

Brice Morgan – Senior Technician

Time at SGE: 2 Decades

With nearly two decades of loyal service under his belt, Brice Morgan is one of SG Equipment’s longest-serving and most respected technicians. Reliable, down-to-earth, and always up for a challenge, Brice has seen the company grow from a small three-person team into the strong operation it is today — and he’s played a big part in that journey.

From School Holidays to Senior Tech

Brice’s path into the industry started early. “My father worked for a forklift company, and I used to help out during the school holidays,” he recalls. That hands-on exposure sparked a passion for machinery that’s carried him through a long and rewarding career.

When Brice first joined what was then SG Motor Engineers, the team was just a handful of people and forklift models were far simpler. “Now there are so many different models out there — it’s amazing how much has changed,” he says.

So what’s kept him around for almost 20 years? “The flexibility,” Brice says. “I like being able to sort out my own jobs for the week, and the variety of different machines I get to work on. Some are better than others,” he laughs, “but it keeps things interesting!”

A Day in the Life

An early riser through and through, Brice is on the go before most people’s alarms have gone off. “I’m up at 5:30 and out the door by 6am whether it’s a local job or heading out of town. Any later’s just a waste of the day,” he says.

Known for his reliability and calm approach, Brice’s ‘secret’ to getting the job done isn’t really a secret at all: “You just have to take pride in what you’re doing.”

One standout memory over the years? “A customer brought in a vacuum machine that had been sitting for 30 years. They asked me to service it and see if it would run, and it started straight away. They were over the moon!”

The SGE Team

Brice describes the current team as “a variety of people with different skills and knowledge, which really helps when you need advice on a tricky problem.”

He’s especially grateful for those who shaped his early career: “When I started as a young 23-year-old, I did my apprenticeship under Ron Gordon and Colin Hughes. They made me the tech I am today.”

Looking back, Brice says the best part about being part of the SGE family has been “seeing how far it’s come from where it began.”

Life Outside the Workshop

When he’s not fixing forklifts, Brice is rarely idle. “If I’m not mowing lawns, I’m mucking around in my shed,” he says. He’s also a motorsport fan, often heading to car shows or Hampton Downs to watch the racing. One fact many might not know about him? “I built my first hot rod at 18 with my dad’s help. It was a 1949 Ford Bonus and took eight years to build.”
